Tom Bennett, coach of the 1990 and 1992 State Division
I Champion Memorial Spartans, will be the main instructor throughout
the week. Coach Bennett retired in 2007 after 30 years as the varsity
baseball coach at Memorial. Prior to coaching the Spartans he coached
junior varsity at UW-Madison and managed state semi-pro teams in the
Madison area for many years. Coach Bennett has received recognition
as Semi-Pro Manager of the Year, Madison's High School Coach of the
Year, Big 8 Coach of the Year and Wisconsin State Coach of the Year.
He was enshrined in the Wisconsin High School Baseball Coaches Hall
of Fame in February of 2008. His combined record is 535 wins and 258
losses. The Memorial Spartans have been regional champs 18 times, sectional
finalists 13 times and have made seven state tournament appearances
(in 2007 Memorial was the State runner-up). Tom also coached Little
League and Little League All-Star teams at West Madison Little League
for six seasons. Coach Bennett particularly enjoys, and is committed
to, developing the young baseball player. |
